We at Weave, Wood & Watson appreciate beauty, longevity, nature, creativity and good craftsmanship. Alan (Watson) became an upholsterer's apprentice at the age of 16 when he quickly learned and developed an enthusiasm for the traditional methods and skills of the past. He now has over 35 years of experience and knowledge from working with a diverse variety of upholstered furniture.Watson's main passion up until now has been the restoration of antique furniture; for two reasons:Firstly, the traditional hand-made frames (Wood) were so skilfully designed and crafted, and secondly, for the pure joy of rejuvenating old furniture with contemporary and interesting fabrics (Weave) that complement the tastes of its new owner.Today, Watson has a new and important passion: organic upholstered furniture. For the last 100 years, we and the world have been increasingly bombarded by many toxic and life-threatening substances and chemicals. The effects of which are only just being realised now.Over the last few years and with this consciousness, Watson has gathered information, materials and contacts which allow Weave, Wood & Watson to create new versions of traditional upholstery with greater integrity.Today, many people are starting to appreciate once again the importance (financially and for our environment) of choosing furniture that not only enhances their homes but will also be loved and cherished for many, many years to come.
